The Communications Team is the voice and lens of the PGA. It crafts what the PGA wants to tell the world: through speeches, tweets, background notes, and strategic messaging. It’s one of the most public-facing teams of the OPGA.
Stepping into the Office of the President of the General Assembly (OPGA) as a PGA Fellow was surreal. And honestly, a bit overwhelming at first. I didn’t even have a proper idea of what the PGA really did. But slowly, with the support of a fantastic team, I found my footing and became a part of the process.
What I did? (And what came out of it?)
The following are the speeches I crafted for the PGA.
Speechwriting

- Remarks: Was able to include the urgency of Himalayan glacier melt in this speech. Hearing Nepal’s PR echo similar points on the UN floor made me feel that my work was, in a small way, contributing to my country.
- Special Event – International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace
- Location: Trusteeship Council Chamber
- Date: 21 March 2025
- Remarks: Although initially uncertain, the event went ahead with the Chef de Cabinet delivering the PGA’s remarks. I had prepared both the background note and the final speech.
Press Briefing, Social Media Strategy and Strategic Communication
- Supported the Press Briefings of the OPGA Spokesperson’s team.
- Co-created the Communications Plan for the PGA’s official visits to Addis Ababa, Nairobi, and Geneva.
- Helped draft social media posts for the PGA’s meetings with Member States – highlighting diplomatic engagements such as with the Permanent Representatives (PRs) of Belize and Rwanda.
Conclusion
I came in hoping to learn. What I didn’t expect was the amount of trust I was given.
I wasn’t just observing the process, I was contributing, editing, writing, pitching, and seeing my work presented at the General Assembly.
By the end of my rotation, I had written over five major speeches, developed communication materials used across PGA platforms, and brought Nepal into the spotlight at least once. This page captures more than just outputs; it holds a personal journey through multilateral communication at the UN level.
If this is how it began, I can’t wait to see what the next teams bring.
